Medication Management

Dr. David Patron earned his M.D. from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, where he was part of the PRIME-LA-CDU program focused on leadership, advocacy, and care for community and urban underserved populations. He holds a Master of Science in Neuroimaging and Informatics from the Keck School of Medicine at USC, and dual undergraduate degrees in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior; and Psychology from UC Davis. He completed his general psychiatry residency training at UC Davis Health. Dr. Patron is also a Volunteer Clinical Faculty member and is pursuing subspecialty fellowship training in consultation-liaison (psychosomatic) psychiatry at UC Davis Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Dr. Patron has a strong interest in culturally responsive psychiatry, trauma-informed care, and reducing mental health disparities in underserved communities. He also conducts research on interventional psychiatry and neuromodulation for mood disorders, the impact of adverse and positive childhood experiences in culturally diverse health professions students, and the role of trauma, spirituality, and resilience in psychiatric care.

Healthy psychological development is a fundamental human right — and every person deserves care that honors their cultural background, values, and lived experience.

He views medication as one important component of a comprehensive approach to mental wellness and encourages a whole-person approach to treatment, with the belief that combining medication management with psychotherapy leads to more meaningful and lasting outcomes. His approach to care is grounded in the conviction that healthy psychological development is a fundamental human right, and he is committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where each person's cultural background, values, and lived experience are central to their treatment.
