NADEEM HASAN, PSY.D. (he/him)

Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY27828)

Nadeem Hasan, Psy.D., earned his masters and doctorate from the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium. Prior to graduate school he served as a Research Assistant at the Harvard Study of Adult Development. In graduate school, he completed his Doctoral Internship & Postdoctoral Fellowship at UCLA’s Counseling & Psychological Services. A focus of his graduate studies was on researching and treating substance use disorders, completing his dissertation on mindfulness and cannabis cessation. Since graduating he served as a Training Director at Santa Clara University and as a Counselor Faculty at San José State University.

Dr. Hasan collaborates with each person seeking therapy to develop a tailored plan that addresses their unique reasons for seeking care. He approaches therapy flexibly and responsively, aiming to develop a sense of safety for people to share what’s important. He respects each individual’s choice to share what they wish while has found that people tend to make meaningful change when they access their core emotions, needs, and desires, which can deepen their self-understanding as well as their connection to themselves and others. He also assists people in working through adverse experiences from the past that may be influencing one’s life in the present.

This approach is called psychodynamic, which Dr. Hasan intertwines with a specialized version called Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy (AEDP). Additionally, he draws on other modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when these perspectives or methods align with someone’s needs and preferences.
