At Banyan Behavioral Health, we provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and psychological functioning. Our assessments are designed to help individuals clarify neurocognitive-related diagnoses, and understand their strengths and challenges, with tailored recommendations to support academic, professional, and personal success.

We specialize in evaluating a range of conditions, including but not limited to:
-
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
-
Learning Disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia)
-
Memory and Cognitive Decline (including early signs of dementia)
-
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Concussion Recovery
-
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disorders
-
Mood and Anxiety-Related Cognitive Impacts
-
Neurological and Other Medical Conditions (e.g., stroke, brain tumor, pre-surgical evaluation and post-surgical recovery)

As a culturally and linguistically competent practice, we provide assessments in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, ensuring more accurate results for clients with different linguistic needs.

Our Assessment Process
The total assessment process involves three visits. Here's more details:
-
Free Phone Consultation – The first step is a brief phone consultation where we gather initial information about the services requested and determine if our evaluation is the right fit for you. If appropriate, we place you on our waitlist for an assessment appointment.
-
Clinical Interviews (2 Sessions, 1 Hour Each) – Once you are off the waitlist, we will reach out to schedule your first visit, a one-hour virtual clinical interview with one of our clinicians. During this visit, we take a comprehensive personal history, review medical and educational background, and conduct a mental status examination. Your clinician may, with your consent, also gather information on your developmental history and presenting issues from a collateral interview with your family/friend.
-
Testing Appointments (3 - 5 Hours Total) – During the second visit, you will complete a series of interviews, standardized cognitive, psychological, and neuropsychological tests to assess areas such as attention, memory, problem-solving, processing speed, social cognition, and executive functioning. Testing sessions typically last between 3 to 5 hours and testing batteries are tailored based on individual needs. More time may be needed for complex issues.
-
Scoring & Interpretation – Our clinicians carefully analyze and interpret the test results to provide an accurate and meaningful evaluation. This process takes 2 - 3 weeks to ensure thorough assessment and detailed recommendations.
-
Feedback Session (53 minutes) – After interpretation, we schedule the final visit, a feedback session where we review the findings, discuss diagnoses (if applicable), and provide personalized recommendations for treatment, and other support.
-
Assessment Report – Usually within 2 weeks from the feedback session, you will receive a written report summarizing the assessment results, diagnoses, and evidence-based recommendations.

Costs & Insurance
The cost of a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation varies depending on the complexity of the case and the specific assessments needed.

-
Insurance Coverage: We are in-network with Blue Shield of California (including Wellfleet plans: UC Berkeley SHIP, UC Irvine SHIP, and Stanford Cardinal Care) and out-of-state BlueCross BlueShield plans for neuropsychological testing. We cannot guarantee insurance coverage as insurance companies make their final decisions regarding coverage when the claims are submitted.
-
Estimates: If your benefits plan indicates that you have a co-insurance of 10% and no deductible, your estimated fee for testing is between $450 - $500. If you have a co-insurance of 20% and no deductible, your estimated fee is between $900 - $1000.
-
If you need us to complete documentation for accommodations or other purposes, a separate fee will apply based on the time required to fill out the forms. Please note that these services are typically not covered by insurance.
-
-
Cash Pay Costs: We will provide a detailed breakdown of fees based on the services requested. We can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network insurance reimbursement. If you require us to fill out forms or letters to support an accommodation request, additional fees will apply. Please note that these fees are not covered by insurance.
-
A standard assessment (e.g., Autism, ADHD, TBI) requiring 15-17 hours costs between $5,500 - $6,300. A more complicated assessment (e.g., Learning disabilities, Autism plus ADHD) requiring 18-20 hours costs between $6,600 - $7,400.
-

Please use our estimated cost, with insurance benefits applied, as a suggestion only. We do not determine your insurance coverage as Blue Shield of California/Wellfleet makes the final decision on claim approval and coverage. It is the client's responsibility to confirm their benefits eligibility with their insurance provider.

If you have questions about costs, coverage, or payment plans, we encourage you to contact our team or your insurance for more details.

Neuropsychological Evaluations for High-Stakes Examinations

Banyan Behavioral Health offers comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for individuals seeking accommodations for high-stakes examinations, such as the MCAT and LSAT, and other graduate admissions assessments. These evaluations include a thorough clinical interview, record review, and standardized testing to assess for conditions that may qualify for accommodations. Please note that diagnoses and accommodation approvals are not guaranteed, as recommendations are based on objective findings and established diagnostic criteria.

Insurance Coverage
Insurance coverage, when applicable, is limited to the diagnostic evaluation itself and only when deemed medically necessary for clinical purposes. Some plans may also cover psychoeducational testing. However, benefits vary significantly by carrier and plan. We strongly encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to verify your specific coverage prior to scheduling.

Please be aware that insurance does not typically cover services rendered solely for the purpose of supporting accommodation requests. Additional fees apply for the time required for the preparation of accommodation-related documentation, including letters, forms, and supplemental reports required by testing agencies.
